Having read what 505 will entail, it seems like it could be a very interesting albeit challenging module. One thing I am having trouble with is narrowing down my choices to just one area where illustration can fit. So far I am interested in aspects of a few different ones.
Although I don't think getting involved in multiple industry areas is a bad thing, for the sake of this brief I will have to choose just one.
Publishing for Children and Adults
With this area I would be interested in publishing for adults, not so much for children. This could involve book design (including anniversary and limited editions, as well as accompanying printed material)...
Editorial & Reportage
What I like about this section is the idea of responding to contexts and ideas. There is purpose and meaning to the image. Whether this is based on an article in a newspaper or magazine or website, or responding to observations and sights. There is a level of thought and interpretation involved.
Character & Narrative
Although the main reason I am drawn to character and narrative is due to comics/graphic novels and storytelling, there could also be a lot more scope with this topic. A character could be designed for a product, or brand. Narrative would go hand-in-hand with publishing, too. There is some overlap, which is why I'm stuck on which to choose.
