Day in the Life | Development

After brainstorming a number of compositions and rough ideas, I decided to take forward the biblical theme. The crit session we had informed this decision, as people said that the concept gave the idea strength, and actually communicated something.

I did a series of small variations on designs before I chose the final one. I liked the apple idea, which could be depicted in a number of ways. But I also liked the composition of the portrait - with the face appearing from the right. The other examples involving hands were effective, but too similar to my other design which also featured a hand.

Development for the portrait design. I was happy with the imagery itself, I just needed to figure out the position of the snake around the hand - which arrangement would even out the space used? How many times should the body wrap around?

I looked at variations for the landscape design too. I found this to be the most challenging, as the height of this space was quite narrow. I wanted to take up enough space so that the illustrations didn't look lost, but I didn't want the overall image to look cramped.
