War Horse x Folio Society | Camera print
Harry Tennant
Illustrator from London who has a background in traditional printmaking. This is evident in the aesthetic of his images - they are often made in restricted colour palettes, which feature block colours mostly. There is also the use of halftones, and overlapping shapes / levels of transparency to some colours which all are screenprint qualities
I'm not sure if the images are created by hand, or if they are made through digital processes. There is something about his work that fits both methods. The drawn lines and textures give a handmade feel, however the strong colours and well-composed images suggest they are digital. Maybe both?
His work seems well-suited for an editorial context, as he is able to create atmospheres and a sense of place, do more observational pieces that show people or things from real life, to things that are like diagrams, guides, maps.

Patrick Kyle
Patrick is a commercial artist from Toronto. I'd seen his work before but not in an editorial format. I really like how his work can exist in graphic novels, zines, posters, and in an editorial setting. And yet it still maintains this weird personality, whilst conveying the idea or message at hand.
His methods for creating images are a mixture of traditional and digital. Pencil lines, brush strokes, and digital overlays and popping colours are all part of his images. I really enjoy seeing a more offbeat (?) illustrator doing commercial work. Well done Pat.
