Collaboration: Creating Mock-ups

Today's collab meeting was about bringing all of our sketches together, and producing a mock-up of the poster we plan to produce. Once the poster is complete, we plan to create the yoyo card designs by cropping sections of the poster.

We need to consider: what kind of layout we want, what type we will use for both the title and the cards themselves, as well as colours.

We are thinking for the poster title, a textural, hand-drawn type would be best. It would be energetic, and less serious as it is geared towards children.

I mentioned the work of Oliver Jeffers, as he used hand-drawn type a lot in his work. It gives a playful charm to the illustrations.

I scanned all of my sketches of the 15 objects we agreed on, and took them into photoshop to clean them up. Sophie advised that putting them into illustrator and using image trace would make the line work more definite and easier to manipulate (e.g. join shapes up to create a solid form)

Here is where we started to produce the mock-up, getting to grips with the arrangement of the images. We also mentioned adding handmade textures / noise / grain to lift what would be the flat colours.

We planned to meet on Thursday, however due to timetabled sessions we may have to rearrange.
