SB1 I See Faces | Initial Ideas

I'm looking forward to hopefully creating a character that is fully fleshed-out, and bringing them to life with small animations. I enjoy films so planning out framing and compositions for the 'shots' within the GIFs is going to be interesting yet challenging.

Because I've had a couple of ideas and silly stories kicking about from a while before this brief, I'm hesitant to turn them into actual realised visuals. I don't want to mess it up.

In order to create our starting points and the beginnings of our concept, we had to list words in categories to try and get a 'feel' or a theme. Here is one of mine:

Although I think all of the words and phrases listed above are cohesive and blend well, I have an entire set up playing out in my head! This is hard to communicate because I can picture it so clearly. My job will be to put this across to others successfully.

Next I got some books from the library (on the west, suburbia, Woodstock, 1950s clothing..), and made sketches of objects I thought were relevant..

I found a mix of images with people, costumes, and environments. I liked these pictures in  particular because they have a certain mood that appeals to me.

"Gettin' the vibe down.."

Sheets of very quick drawings that either triggered a line of thought or a theme I had in mind. Although I may not use every point or image created here, they were a good way of just pouring ideas on to the page.
