The theme stemmed from researching various witch trials through history, and subsequently looking into ones that were location-specific. A lot of these places where the witch hunts and trials took place have geographic things specific to them, and mentioned places and areas that were steeped in folklore.
The four places / events :
Cuevas de las Brujas
Zugarramurdi, in Navarre, Northern Spain → The Basque Witch Trials (17th cen)
• The Witch Caves | Every year fires are lit in the caves nearby to celebrate the Day of the Witch on the summer solstice
• Akelarre Meadow | A field near the caves, meaning 'field of the he-goat' in the Basque language. A black goat used to graze in the fields, and was said to turn into a human when the witches gathered (along with other implications about the devil)
