Time's ticking on, and I seem to be getting nowhere with the roughs I had started with. So I made more of them, but took forward ideas that weren't too bad and refined some aspects.
I hoped that by narrowing down the options and developing my drawings it would make my ideas clearer, and I could pick out what was successful and what was failing.

Peer Crit & Feedback
Out of all of the crits to-date, I approached this one with the most confusion and lack of clarity and assurance about my idea. This worried me, because at this point I'm normally just powering through and getting on with things.
Even if I'm not often 100% happy with my ideas, I'm usually able to go "Yeah, okay" and work with what's there and complete the task at hand.

The feedback I got was mostly positive, and I just needed to resolve any qualms I had about compositions before I got into illustrator.
People also liked the idea of the witch character being a motif that repeated throughout, in order to draw the 4 postcards together.
When discussing colour schemes, the idea of having a muted, somber palette with one bold accent colour was mentioned. Again, this would provide a greater level of consistency across my designs.
I'm not entirely sure if people got my idea, or if they thought it successfully reflected a place, but they didn't totally oppose it so that's...okay? I guess because I've totally lost faith, I'm now doubting whether I've actually answered the brief.
I think I did that thing where my head is in the Research Zone and I'm loving the info, stories and facts too much, and maybe I've ignored the part where I have to depict an actual location. But then I always talk in circles by saying that ambiguity and mystery is cool, and that I wouldn't want to illustrate the Eiffel tower, or big ben...but I also don't want mine to look silly or too unobvious...wehh..
