Classic Bananas - Thee Oh Sees

Another response to an Illustration 12" track. Maybe more of a literal idea, the design is a bunch of banana labels! Was fun to draw and quick to make. Kind of does what it says on the tin, not really a clever idea full of metaphors but oh well.

I found an online image archive of banana labels from all over the world, and made some quick drawings using a chunky pencil. I wanted for them to be based on real life objects/images, but also not be 100% accurate. I think because of the hand-drawn type and logos they have a small sense of realism to them.

It was then just a matter of taking the images into software, selecting a colour palette (which was also based on the colours of existing labels), and applying some textures to add a worn aesthetic.
