Henning Wagenbreth
When looking at some existing examples of editorial illustration I found this person's work.
He is a German illustrator and designer, involved in print, typography, and other methods of image-making. What I like is the various purposes his illustrations are used for, and how they are even applied to things that have very heavy serious subject matter.
For example the bottom image on the last slide is about a group of activists from Nigeria who were executed. The text that accompanies the image either makes sense to those that know, or encourages those that don't to look further to understand it.
I also just enjoy the weird aesthetic. But also the level of concept and thought that seems to go into the images, informing what little motifs, characters, and symbols are involved.
